Speech and Language Therapy

Children placed in the Language Unit have access to speech and language therapy on a weekly basis.

Currently our Speech and Language Therapist is Mrs. Yvonne Paris. She works at Vigo for 5 sessions a week-- all day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

The children are seen by Yvonne with their SNA for between 30 and 40 minutes each week. Assessments are carried out on a regular basis and new targets set. These are recorded on the child's IEP.

A weekly programme of therapy is agreed between Yvonne and the Language Unit Manager. This is then carried out by the SNA working with the child on a daily basis and reviewed the next week. Whenever possible we try to make relevant links between the therapy and learning targets.

Yvonne and the Language Unit Manager work together to provide

Social Communication skills groups for children in both Key Stages.

Parents are able to make appointments with Yvonne to discuss any particular areas of concern.
